Food on the Day?
There will be some yummy food from Lisnamulligan Farm (free range farm pigs, cattle, and LF potatoes) on us as well as for purchase. They will also have food for purchase the next day!
Where should I exchange dollars for Euro?
Don't do it at the airport or in the US. Wait until you can go to a BANK ATM in Ireland, so you aren't paying crazy exchange rates. Also, when paying for items with your card, ALWAYS choose to pay in Euro, NOT dollars. Otherwise, you will be essentially paying two exchange rates.
What should I pack?
Look, it's NW Ireland/Donegal and we are a seaside village. The weather is like a box of choc-o-lates...you never know what you're going to get. Pack for layering. We could have a beautifully sunny week or it could be windy and rainy. Do also pack some hiking shoes that you don't mind getting mucky because there are incredible places to hike around.
Do I tip in Ireland?
Quick answer is yes. Although, the tipping percentage isn't as high as the US, tipping is definitely appreciated at restaurants. For a drink up at the bar? Always appreciated, but not a must like the states. Cost of living is pretty high here though.
Filling Stations?
*Pump THEN Pay (they still have trust in this country)!
You can fill up your car in Glencolmcille. Carrick has one, but it is a bit scary if you are a new left side driver, and one at O'Gara's Pub in Kilcar...or wait until you get towards the end of Killybegs.
Is there a place where I can get snacks and groceries?
Yes! Byrne's Foodstore and Filling Station is smack in the middle of our village.
There is also one at the end of Carrick, our direct neighboring village, and a wee bit larger store before the bridge in Kilcar.
